The 2027 New Testament Recitation Conference

In line with the vision of the Bible Memorization Project—to inspire millions globally to experience the possibility and transformative power of Scripture memorization—the project intends to hold its first New Testament Recitation Conference on December 17-19, 2027.

During this historic event, the 27 books of the New Testament will be recited word for word from memory. This will be the first-ever New Testament Recitation Conference in the history of the Adventist Church.

Goals and Purpose of the 2027 New Testament Recitation Conference

  1. To Demonstrate the Possibility of Scripture Memorization

Throughout the history of Christianity, many individuals have demonstrated a tremendous ability to memorize large portions of the Bible. However, in the 21st century, the practice of Scripture memorization has been largely neglected, with many believing it is an impossible discipline for the average person.

Some hold the misconception that Scripture memorization is only for those with photographic memories. As a result, it is often associated with exceptional individuals rather than being seen as a skill that can be learned, developed, and perfected by anyone willing to put in the effort.

The New Testament Recitation Conference will serve as a living demonstration of this truth. Through the word-for-word recitation of all 27 books of the New Testament, the conference will show that, with dedication, commitment, and divine help, Scripture memorization is not only possible but also manageable. It will inspire attendees to see that everyone can learn this skill, regardless of their background or abilities.

  1. To Spark a Love for God’s Word through Scripture Memorization

In an age where distractions abound and with the proliferation of the entertainment industry, the love for God’s Word is rapidly waning. If Christians truly believe that the Bible is their spiritual food, as they profess, should not their attitude toward it reflect that belief?

As Job 23:12 declares: “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.”

The purpose of this conference is to respark and reignite a love for God’s Word through the powerful practice of Scripture memorization, inspiring believers to treasure it as Job did—above all else.

  2. To Revive the Spirit of the Waldensians

The Waldensians, during a time when Bibles were scarce, memorized large portions of the Old and New Testaments. This conference aims to revive that spirit of dedication, especially now that the Bible is widely accessible.

Pause and think: When the Word of God was scarcely available, people treasured it so much that they memorized large portions. Yet, with the invention of the printing press, the Bible is now practically within the reach of every hand. Should we not, with such accessibility, commit even more of God’s Word to memory?
